Deicorp, Polish Club Plan 91 Apartments in Ashfield

Sydney-based builder and developer Deicorp has lodged plans for 91 residential apartments and a new 1850sq m club in Sydney’s inner-west.

Plans for the $72 million club redevelopment, in conjunction with the Ashfield Polish Club, will increase the existing club size from 1200sq m to 1850sq metres.

The development application is for the club’s property located at Liverpool Road and 73 Norton Street in Ashfield, which sits about eight kilometres from the Sydney CBD.

The project would involve the demolition of existing structures on the site, and construction of a 3-8 storey mixed-use development comprising 91 units and the registered club, subject to approval.

▲ Deicorp and the Ashfield Polish Club have lodged a development application for 91 residential apartments and a new 1850sq m club in Ashfield in Sydney’s inner-west.

Under the environmental planning and assessment act, the Sydney Eastern City Planning Panel is the consent authority determining the application, with planning documents showing the redevelopment construction will cost $37.1 million.

The Polish club listed part of the club’s Ashfield property in 2018, combining land with surrounding neighbours, including its car park and a separate older building.

The original club officially opened in the late 1960s, and its history dates back to the late 1940s when Polish immigrants arrived in Australia following World War II.

Deicorp managing director Fouad Deiri said the company has also worked in partnership with local clubs, including the Redfern RSL Club, Petersham RSL Club.

Landcom and Sydney Metro appointed Deicorp to deliver the 1100-home project at Tallawong station, 48 kilometres north-west of Sydney CBD, last year.

Deicorp submitted plans for the major Tallawong project, to be located on the last stop of the north-west arm of the Sydney metro, earlier this year.

Sydney’s Ashfield has recently come under the spotlight due to cracking in homes reportedly from ground movement during tunnelling of the M4 East toll road near the WestConnex motorway.

And the local council has plans to open its $44.7 million aquatic centre later this year, which is currently under construction.

Deicorp is currently constructing the 357 apartment complex in Petersham, and has plans to start work on more than 770 apartments in Zetland, Roseberry and Redfern.
