Paris is set to have a new skyscraper.

This follows narrow approval given this week to the Tour Triangle, which will become the third tallest building in the City of Light. The approval follows an initial rejection in 2014.

Swiss architectural agency Herzog & de Meuron has designed the 180-metre, 43-storey tower which is also known as the Triangle Tower with its unique pyramidal shape of steel and glass construction. It tapers toward the top on all sides but most dramatically along two of its facades.

It is proposed for the Porte de Versailles neighbourhood, in Paris' 15th arrondissement.

It will certainly stand out especially considering the classical French neighborhood surrounds it will stand near. Critics are concerned about the structure not fitting in with the surrounding landscape.
