Hong Kong developer Forise Investments has taken the next step in its push to build a new $1 billion Surfers Paradise mega-tower by lodging a Development Application with the Gold Coast Council.

The DA describes a new 88-storey mixed use tower to be built on a 3494 sqm site it has acquired at 3 Trickett Street, Surfers Paradise.

The site was formerly the location of the Iluka Beachfront Resort, which was constructed in the 1970s as one of the first highrise buildings on the beachfront but demolished in 2013 and the site grassed and fenced.
