Zen Group’s West End Towers Greenlit

Brisbane builder-developer Zen Group has won approval from Brisbane City Council for its two-tower project at West End.

Zen Group managing director Michael Emanuele’s family business acquired the 4190sq m site and shed at 24 Duncan Street in October 2023 for more than $13 million, in what Emanuele said was a “right place at the right time” moment.

The project designed by Betts and Partners, in collaboration with development advisory firm Finegrain, comprises 176 apartments across 16 storeys, one block back from the Brisbane River.

Zen has more than 40 years’ building experience and Emanuele said he planned to get to work on the construction program this year.

“There is an alignment of passion and purpose with this project, as we are bringing to market oversized apartments with an understated elegance, which the residents will be proud to call home,” he said.

“We are aiming for commencement of the first tower early 2026. Completion of the first tower should be mid-late 2027, with Tower 2 commencing shortly thereafter, if not sooner.”

Emanuele said the diversity of apartment sizes would cater to a broad range of buyer profiles, with a strong focus on health and wellness.

Finegrain founder Simon White said the development celebrated the uniqueness of the peninsula.

“Our partnership with Zen Group and Betts and Partners Architects is focused on setting a new benchmark for subtropical apartment living where landscape, natural light and outdoor spaces combine to deliver so much more than a traditional house,” White said.

The building will comprise a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom apartments as well as a shared 2500sq m rooftop amenity with a pool, which will be connected by a pedestrian skybridge.

The development also includes a fitness centre, private dining rooms, co-working spaces and wellness amenities.

While pricing is not yet available, Zen Group’s Michael Emanuele said he believed it would represent a strong value proposition for West End.
