Aniko’s $2bn Mermaid Beach Masterplan Approved

The Gold Coast’s busiest builder-developer George Mastrocostas is capping off 2023 with a green light on his $2-billion four-tower project at Mermaid Beach.

Aniko Group received an early Christmas present from the City of Gold Coast City with the approval of the luxury mixed-use precinct to be called The Landmark, which will be built on a long-vacant 1.13ha site on the corner of Gold Coast Highway and Seaview Avenue.

Touted as one of the largest developments on the Gold Coast, the development will comprise apartments, offices, medical suites, a luxury hotel, and a retail and dining precinct.

The three residential towers would rise to 25, 30 and 40 storeys, and the hotel and hotel-branded residences would be accommodated in the 53-storey tower on the Mermaid Beach site.

▲ Aniko Group has sold 75 per cent of its Chevron Island tower Orama, which it has just broken ground on.

“We are thrilled to have been granted approval to proceed with this transformational development that has been designed to create a self-sufficient environment within a community where people can live, work and play,” Mastrocostas said.

“The Landmark, designed by award-winning firm Plus Architecture, will deliver a collection of 821 residences, over 10,000sqm of A-grade commercial office and medical space, and a vibrant new casual fine dining and beverage precinct on the ground floor.”

Apartments have been designed to cater to a range of buyers, and residents will have access to world-class amenities on the 1ha recreation podium.

The Landmark would also feature a waterfront dining precinct, neighbouring Pacific Fair.

Speaking to The Urban Developer earlier this month, Mastrocostas said he wanted to build a legacy on the Gold Coast and the $2-billion Mermaid Beach site would be his opportunity to do that.

Aniko plans to officially launch The Landmark to the market in early 2024, while construction of the first stage is expected to begin by the end of next year.
