Plans have been filed for a six-storey residential block in a fast-growing Adelaide suburb.
The development is proposed for 2 and 4 MacFarlane Street at Glenelg North, which straddles the City of Holdfast Bay and the City of West Torrens, just south of Adelaide Airport.
The project will offer 18 apartments of one to four bedrooms.
At ground level, an undercroft carpark with 20 lots is concealed behind a landscaped setback with a central pedestrian entrance and lobby.
Stallard Meek Flightpath Architects has been brought in on behalf of applicant Vector Built to design the project.
The development application says the block will have visual connectivity to the heart of Glenelg, Patawalonga River, the Glenelg Jetty and Adelphi Terrace, and has the opportunity to become “a timeless landmark” for the suburb.
At present on the site are two single-storey detached homes but the surrounding area has been a hotbed of development with the Quayview Apartments to the south, and a seven-storey residential building under construction and another four-storey apartment block to the west.
The project will now be assessed by the South Australian State Commission Assessment Panel.
