A Pair of residential projects have been lodged for the Sydney suburb of Arncliffe.
Bayside Council is considering plans for a nine-storey tower, at 1-5 Charles Street as well as a four-storey shoptop residential development at 114 Wollongong Road.
The Charles Street proposal is for a build-to-rent tower comprising 50 apartments.
The plans include demolishing a single-storey residential buildings on the site.
The 1663sq m building would also have three basement levels with 66 parking spaces plus electric vehicle chargers.
Plans for the site were prepared by Marchese Partners for TQM Design & Construct.
It would provide “high quality communal open space” with “extensive landscaping on its interfaces”, the planners said.
The site is 1.3km from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, 500m from Arncliffe train and 10km from the Sydney CBD.
Meanwhile, the Wollongong Road project will consist of a commercial tenancy as well as eight residential units and two basement carparking levels.
The project, associated with a private individual developer, will be an even split of four one-bedroom units and four two-bedroom apartments.
CD Architects have designed the new building, which will require the demolition of two-storey residential buildings on site.
GAT & Associates town planners said that the development is “in keeping with the future character of the area”.
They also said that it will be consistent with existing and new development in the local area.
Arncliffe is set to play host to major projects in the coming years, including a recently approved $253 million development, revamping the ageing Arncliffe Estate into a mixed-use site.
The project, a collaboration between the NSW’s Land and Housing Corporation and Billbergia Group as well as not-for-profit Evolve Housing, will deliver 744 new apartments, a 4000sq m park and new shops and community facilities.
