Construction continues on Aveo Group’s 19-story vertical retirement community in Newstead which was met with increasing demand from retirees looking for lifestyle-led apartment living.

The $200 million Aveo Newstead tower in Brisbane’s Gasworks precinct received significant interest ahead of the May sales launch from local and interstate buyers considering their long-term retirement living needs, but wanting the lifestyle and entertainment options that inner city Newstead affords now.

Designed by DBI architects and Carr Design Group, Aveo Newstead will include a selection of independent living apartments, including penthouses and full service apartments, along with a state-of- the-art Aged Care Facility. The community will offer unrivalled flexibility and assurance for residents that their care needs can be catered for within the one location.

Unique to Aveo Newstead, level five of the building will offer an exclusive community recreation area dedicated to the residents, featuring over 3000 m2 of landscaped gardens including an activity lawn overlooking the Gasometer. Internally, there’s a restaurant and bar, demonstration kitchen, lounge, golf simulator, private movie theatre, billiard room, business centre and craft room.

Aveo Group CEO Geoff Grady describes vertical living as the next logical approach for retirement communities, as increasingly, discerning buyers are demanding easy access to lifestyle amenities, spacious indoor living areas and desirable inner-city locations.

“Within 30 years, Australia’s retirement living market will be at least double the size of what it is now, and to continue to offer centrally located retirement communities, the need to develop skyward will increase due to limited space,” he said.

“Retirees still want the lifestyle and location that residential buyers in the inner-city are looking for, so we are leading the charge to innovate and meet this demand with premium vertical living options.”

“Moreover, having aged care accommodation on-site provides the peace of mind many retirees are seeking when moving to a new community in later life.”

To support residents further, the community will feature a health and wellness retreat where residents can relax, improve their fitness and also access professional services from GPs, podiatrists and massage therapists.
