Retirement developer Aveo Releases Latest Assisted-Living Residential Building

Retirement developer Aveo Group has released its latest assisted-living residential building, the $25m "Sellwood", in Albion.

The ASX-listed Aveo Group's share price hit a two-year low this week following the fallout from a joint investigation conducted by ABC's Four Corners and Fairfax Media into the retirement village company's questionable operational practices.

The Sellwood is the latest addition to Aveo's "The Clayfield" retirement village at Albion, 6km from Brisbane's CBD. The Clayfield was officially opened by Federal Minister for Brisbane Trevor Evans on 20 July.

Spanning five-storeys, Sellwood features 65 two-bedroom assisted living apartments designed to allow seniors to "age in place" with additional home and care services.

Offering an additional level of home support service, Sellwood provides daily restaurant-quality meals, in-home cleaning and linen services as well as 24/7 health and medical support from on-site medical and allied health professionals.

Aveo Group's General Manager of integrated communities Jason Eldering said the new building will play an important role in The Clayfield’s next chapter as the retirement developer strives to exceed the needs of today’s retirees.

“Our residents have been asking us for an assisted living option at The Clayfield so that when the need arose, they could access a higher level of care but still remain in the community they love,” Eldering said.

“Sellwood is perfect for those seniors wanting to maintain their independence but need nursing and care support and help with some daily tasks like cooking and cleaning.

“Buyers at Sellwood are looking for quality apartments with premium fixtures and fittings, so we’ve incorporated some key elements we know our residents will appreciate, like more accessible wide hallways and doorways, large light switches, DDA compliant bathrooms and zero-step flat thresholds from living areas to outdoor spaces," he said.

The launch of Sellwood follows the recent opening of the Carriage House restaurant and the Health and Wellness Centre, providing residents with first-class care and medical services right on their doorstep.

The Clayfield is located at 469 Sandgate Road, Albion and apartments at Sellwood range in price from $499,000 to $689,000.
