Plans have been filed with the Waverley Council for a four-storey residential development in one of Sydney’s most famous beachside suburbs.
In a development application for DCN Capital, MHN Design Union said it would deliver a “sophisticated, contemporary residential flat building” for the site at Bondi.
It would replace five existing low-density homes on the site at 1-7 Andrews Avenue and 26 Glen Street “of limited streetscape and landscape appeal”.
The developers said the design employed boundary setbacks, modulated decades and a diverse palette, leading to “ an attractive, well-articulated built form that will contribute positively to the area’s character”.
The new residential block would comprise 11 apartments, “each with high levels of residential amenity, which will contribute to housing stock in a well-located and accessible area”.
The apartment vary between three and four bedrooms. Each has a private balcony or landscaped courtyard.
A communal open space area at the rear block includes a swimming pool among other amenities.
Median unit prices in Bondi reach $920,000 for a one-bedroom unit and $2 million for a three-bedroom apartment this year.
The site is 6km east of the Sydney CBD and 2km from Bondi Junction.
Bondi has been home to a host of luxury residential developments in recent years, including eastern suburbs developer Clutch’s apartment project that was recently greenlit as well as Princeton’s $70-million beachfront development.
