Turrisi Properties has commenced construction on $51 million West End development Bohemia just two months after launching sales.
“The unusually short lead time is a reflection of the strong interest we’ve seen in Bohemia,” Turrisi Properties’ managing director Gaetano Turrisi says.
“We are already moving toward fifty percent sold, and that’s allowed us to break ground ahead of programme.”
Developer Turrisi Properties has appointed Sommer & Staff builders to the $25 million construction contract for 94 dwellings located 1.8 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD.
“We’ve proudly appointed Brisbane-based builders to the project. Sommer & Staff have an outstanding track record for delivering high quality apartment developments,” Gaetano Turrisi says.
“With Brisbane-based builders, architects and a local developer involved in the project, we are all invested in delivering an outstanding development that enhances West End.”
Bohemia is designed by Rothelowman architects with a contrasting dual-fronted façade. One side – featuring a jagged ‘saw-tooth’ roof pattern – responds to the warehouses of the suburb’s past; the other displays contrasting white panels in a reference to the area’s timber and tin cottages.
While honouring the suburb’s past, Rothelowman’s design reflects the modern West End in Bohemia’s interiors, using varying lustres and shades of materials throughout.
“The location on Jane Street is the true West End and has strong appeal for people living in the area,” Turrisi says.
“It’s not even 500 metres to all the bars, cafes and live music venues on Boundary Street, and it’s a 100-metre stroll to the greenery of Davies Park and the farmers’ market.”
Bohemia includes a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments starting at $390,000.
Construction is expected to be complete by late 2017.
