Villawood Properties has begun earthworks and civil works at its new $500 million Helensvale community 'The Surrounds', paving the way for its land sales launch in two months.
Contractors began work this week on the Southern Precinct – a 60ha section of the 89ha site that will be home to approximately 620 residences. Installations include optic fibre to each home allowing for fast internet connection.
The Southern Precinct will feature 20ha of green open space, including a central 7500 sqm park, which will be home to a children’s adventure playground, barbecues, sun lounges and public art. The Surrounds is located on the former Gold Coast Country Club, and is bordered by Westfield Helensvale and Coombabah Creek.
About 30 per cent of the community (30ha) will be dedicated to green open space, including new parklands and a green buffer that fringes the site. Villawood Properties Executive Director Tony Johnson said the development of the new community was expected to create more than 1,500 local jobs during the next decade.
