Coomera Urban Apartment Towers Waved Through

MG Homes’ latest greenfield development, The Ridge Residences at Coomera, has been given the green light by the Gold Coast City Council.

The plans for an eight-stage development of the 5.7ha cleared site at 207 Foxwell Road at Coomera include two apartment towers—10-storey and six-storey—as well as 175 townhouses.

The development will provide 134 apartments with a mix of one, two and three-bedroom configurations, as well as a public park.

According to planning documents, The Ridge Residences would play an important role in forming Coomera’s urban neighbourhood.

It’s the final parcel of farmland in that area to be developed, while Keylin has filed plans to extend the Coomera town centre as part of a $1.5-billion masterplan.

The proposed 400-bed private hospital and health precinct is earmarked for a site wedged between Dreamworld theme park to the south and Westfield Coomera shopping centre to the north.

Keylin and Kinstone Group filed a development application in June for a 400-bed private hospital and health precinct in two stages.

Wedged between Dreamworld theme park to the south and Westfield Coomera shopping centre to the north, it is the planned centrepiece of what has been dubbed the Foxwell Coomera precinct.

Future stages of the proposal include a business precinct comprising a 3600sq m commercial building as well as pitstop-style retail tenancies, service station and car wash.

Meanwhile, further south Aniko Group’s 22-storey Chevron Towers development has been approved. The group has been quick to move on the site after acquiring it last year for about $5 million, and filing plans in May.

It is one of more than 15 mid to high-rise developments approved or under construction on Chevron Island.

The $105-million tower, designed by Plus Architects, sits on three adjoining lots of 1518sq m in Weemala Street at the south-east pocket of the island.

“We are looking to transform this site into a residential offering that will appeal to a broad range of buyers,” Aniko managing director George Mastrocostas said.

“Our aim is to create large living spaces and deliver a range of superb resident amenities that align with the convenience of the Chevron Island location.”

The development will include about 550sq m of communal open space on the rooftop, including pool and spa, barbecue and dining areas, lounges, a gym, yoga facilities and private offices.
