Zhiwei Huang’s DCF Property has filed a second amended set of plans for a residential project in inner-city Melbourne.
The 1223.31sq m site at 398-400 Johnston Street, Abbotsford, now has two commercial buildings on it.
The MA Architects-designed plans involve demolishing these buildings and constructing a nine-storey tower with 46 units and one basement level with 40 carparking spaces.
There will be 20 one-bedroom units, 14 two-bedroom units and 12 one-bedroom units.
The plans have undergone changes several times after consultation with the City of Yarra council and community.
The original version of the plans in 2021 had a different facade, two basement levels, 66 carparking spaces and 58 units.
The first amendment to the plans changed the facade and the mix of units, removing six three-bedroom units and adding eight one-bedroom units for a total of 60 units.
The current amendment reduces this number to 46 units and the carparking spaces from 66 to 40.
Out of these 40, 24 are carparking spaces within a stacker system, three are electric vehicle parking spaces with plans to wire other spaces for future EV options, 12 are standard parking and one is a accessible parking space.
There will also be 12 motorcycle parking spaces.
The current changes also include altered setbacks for the project and 52 bicycle parking spaces.
The entire project has an estimated cost of $20.5 million.
DCF Property is also involved in the development of the first Australian hotel in Philippe Starck’s Nu By YOO brand in South Melbourne.
The developer will work in collaboration with M Property, part of Chua Hock Hoo’s and Lloyd Clark’s M Group, while Jerry Xu’s hotel management company, La Vie Hotels and Resorts, retains the rights to operate the hotel brand in the Asia Pacific region.
