Cromwell Property Group have opened their doors to the Department of Social Services, who will now move into the global real estate investment manager's new $172 million National Office at Soward Way, Greenway.
Developed by Cromwell, the 38,400 square metre building will house 2,500 staff.
Completed this month, the headquarters features six-storeys of integrated office space, plus basement, and incorporates a 800 square metre glass atrium through the centre of the building, providing an abundance of natural light to each floor.
The open space includes a series of tenant circulation stairs and cantilevered balconies to promote floor-to-floor connectivity and provide additional break-out areas.
Cromwell Head of Property Damian Horton said the DSS’s long-term view signalled strong confidence in the Tuggeranong area.
“Soward Way has been an exciting and rewarding project to deliver," he said.
"We have worked closely with the DSS throughout the project, from conception to delivery, so we are honoured to officially welcome them today."Cromwell staged an opening ceremony for their office building, which was was officiated by Senator Zed Seselja, following the Commonwealth Government’s commitment to a 15-year lease for the state-of-the-art development.
The development also aims to be awarded a 5-star Green Star rating and a minimum 4.5-star NABERS rating.
“Sustainability and design innovation have been key in creating the flexible and efficient workspace DSS needed," Horton said.
"Using audio-visual technology, LED lighting throughout and a dedicated Building Services Network are just some of the initiatives that led to the industry-leading rating.
“Sustainability is a focal point for new buildings and at Cromwell, we continuously look for ways to incorporate green principles into the design and management of our projects."
