Watch How 'Thirsty' Concrete Guzzles 4,000L In 60 Seconds

A British materials company has recently developed a new kind of concrete that is capable of absorbing up to 4,000 litres of water within the first minute.

Tarmac created Topmix Permeable, a fast draining concrete solution that rapidly directs stormwater off streets, parking surfaces, driveways, walkways, sporting pitches and even cycle paths.

TradesCareer, the company explained that the concrete works by using a permeable layer on top, allowing water to drain through a matrix of large pebbles and then down into a loose base of rubble beneath.
