ESR Greenlit for Second Stage of Westlink Industry Park

Toll is among logistics tenants to have previously contracted Westlink sites.

ESR has been given the green light for another warehouse at its Westlink Industry Park.

Approved was a $91.6-million shed on stage 2 of the project under a State Significant Development application.

The facility will include 35,750sq m of warehouse space and 1740sq m of office space for a total gross floor area of 37,490sq m, as well as parking for 163 vehicles.

Bulk earthworks, roads, and infrastructure associated with the site were included in the approval.

Westlink Industry Park is part of the Mamre Road Precinct of the Western Sydney Employment Area and is within the Penrith LGA about 4km north-east of the Western Sydney International (Nancy Bird Walton) Airport due to open later next year.

The first stage of the industrial estate delivered two industrial warehouse facilities of 67,626sq m and 20,760sq m GFA. More than 340,000sq m of industrial space is planned for the park in total.

The site at 290-308 Aldington Road, 59-63 Abbotts Road, and 1030-1064 Mamre Road at Kemps Creek is 14km south-east of Penrith and about 38km west of the Sydney CBD.

The lot is 600m from an existing residential community at Mt Vernon, and 700m from the new Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha (BAPS) cultural precinct. The 25m-tall Hindu temple at that precinct is the largest of its kind in Sydney.

In July this year, ESR completed a privatisation deal to de-list from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, when the company’s founders took control alongside Starwood Capital Group, SSW Partners, Sixth Street, Warburg Pincus, and Qatar Investment Authority.

Days later, the logistics giant won approval for two sheds at Horsley Park comprising 55,900sq m of warehouse and office space and with a build cost of $96.6 million.

In February, ESR was approved for a $268.78-million multi-level shed at Milperra.
