Favelle Favco Moves Forward on Sydney Multi-Storey Warehouse

Crane company Favelle Favco is moving forward with what it says is western Sydney’s first multi-storey warehouse, as the industrial sector moves skywards.

The company plans to develop the 27,083sq m, two-level industrial facility, which was granted approval in late 2020, at 28 Yarrunga Road, Prestons.

The design by Bureau SRH has truck access including B-Double compatibility across two levels, and multiple recessed loading docks on the 46,840sq m site.

The rise of the industrial sector and ecommerce has spurred on the multi-storey development, however, it is not the only one in the pipeline.

▲ The Favco Industrial Park in Prestons will feature tenancies over two levels ranging from 6,842sq m to 30,592sq m.

Goodman and Altis’ plan for two double-storey warehouses in Alexandria was approved in January.

Woolworths also submitted plans to develop a double-storey distribution centre at Wetherill Park in June, 2021.

Colliers director of industrial research Luke Crawford said current warehouse demand was exceeding supply and has pushed into south-western Sydney.

“Multi-level warehouses have existed in the Asia Pacific region for decades, particularly in the more developed markets of Japan, South Korea, Singapore, and Hong Kong, where dense populations and limited land availability have made them a necessity,” Crawford said.

“With land supply continuing to diminish in the Sydney basin, multi-storey warehouses will be the new normal.”

Favelle Favco specialises in crane technology for heavy lifting and super high-rise buildings and its Australian facility was located on the Yarrunga Road site.
