GPT Group has been awarded the first Green Star Performance rating, for their work on 800 Bourke Street Melbourne.
The commercial office, tenanted by National Australia Bank, has achieved a 4 Star Green Star Performance rating, with the ‘best practice’ in sustainable building operations.
Romilly Madew, Chief Executive of the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA)
said the Green Star Performance rating is a result of the work between the owner and the tenant.
“Gaining the first Green Star Performance rating is the result of exceptional collaboration between a building owner and a tenant, and GPT Group and NAB now have independent, third-party proof that 800 Bourke Street meets best practice benchmarks for sustainable operations.” Ms Madew said.
“As 800 Bourke Street was designed and constructed before the Green Star rating system was widely known, a 4 Star Green Star Performance rating will ensure the building continues to holds its value in a highly competitive commercial office market.”
Matthew Faddy, Head of Asset Management at GPT
said the company is pleased with their achievement.
“We are pleased to now have a sustainability measurement in the market for the performance of our assets,” Mr Faddy said.
“Not only does it allow us to benchmark our assets with those of our peers but it also assists us to drive consistent sustainable outcomes across the business.”
800 Bourke Street was assessed against the nine Green Star categories including Management, Indoor Environment Quality, Energy, Transport, Water, Materials, Land Use and Ecology, and Emission and Innovation.
The 4 Star Green Star Performance Rating demonstrates GPT Group and NAB have operated their building with responsibility and sustainability.
