Five minutes with… Longton Property Group Director Winnie Pi

Winnie Pi is a director of Sydney-based developer Longton Property Group. Longton is an Australian entity with a Chinese multinational parent company, with significant global assets in the mining, property development, and hotel industries.

Longton’s extensive integration of technology into all of its developments is its key point of difference from its competitors. While the company’s first project, Futra iApartments, had only 55 apartments, its next project the Avantra iCommunity at Mascot in Sydney’s inner south was almost six times larger.

In recognition of its one-of-a-kind concept, Longton was nominated for the UDIA NSW Award for Excellence in Concept Design for Avantra, which was also a finalist for the Sydney Good Design Award.

What sparked your interest in property development?

When we started our first project, Futra, the team had a brainstorming session to discuss our vision for a ‘dream apartment’. This included innovative ideas such as home automation and keyless door entry as well as high level finishes to create luxury lifestyle properties. I realised that this vision would impact not only myself but also provide dream apartments to be enjoyed by all our residents.

What drives you – has there been someone or something that has inspired your career?

What drives me is being able to positively impact other people’s lives by developing premium apartments and creating a high quality lifestyle that our residents can enjoy. I’m excited by being able to improve the quality of life of our residents.

How did you get your start in the property world?

The activities of my previous company included mining investment and property development and we wished to establish these same business lines in Australia.

What attracted you to Longton Property Group?

Longton has a vision to deliver premium lifestyle properties and does not compromise the quality of its product. The team and its culture is very positive with the staff passionate about delivering the corporate vision.

What is your favourite project you’ve worked on with Longton Property to date and why?

The first project, Futra, is my favourite as it faced many challenges which we overcame. Whilst difficult, it was a great learning experience.

What projects do you have in the pipeline now?

We currently have three projects in the pipeline with more on the horizon. Futra is a 55 apartment development in Mascot. Avantra is a 328 apartment project also in Mascot. The Uptown is a 220 apartment project in Roseville.
