Melbourne's Flagship Property Holdings have commenced construction on their $100 million apartment project in Coventry Street, Southbank.
Designed by Woods Bagot, the 15-storey Sunday development features 237 one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments set around a central atrium with ventilated facades that feature colourful glazed panes and 2.4m wide footbridges that connect every second level.
Acclaimed landscape architect Jack Merlo has been engaged to design the large outdoor communal area which features a 14 metre pool, spa and BBQ zone. A striking lobby area with two-storey high void cut into the corner of the building is coupled with ground level plantings and trailing plants.
"The building has been designed to maximise utilisation of the well located site however not to create a 'box' but a building that creates a unique sense of home for every apartment. This has been achieved by reducing the bulk mass of the building through the introduction of a central courtyard," says Nik Karalis of Woods Bagot.
The project comprises 160 one-bedroom apartments starting from $335,000, 76 two-bedroom apartments starting at $537,000 and a unique three bedroom penthouse priced at $1.3 million. Colliers International have been appointed sales agents.
One bedroom apartments average 5o square meters (including a five square meter balcony) and two bedroom apartments average approximately 77 square meters internally plus balconies.
According to Woods Bagot, the apartment interiors have been based around a compact 'Pod' concept that 'ensures full realisation of living spaces'.
"All the usual necessities are consolidated into a compact but functional Pod, leaving the remaining surfaces free for personalisation. To achieve this we carefully mapped the essential support items and consolidated them into a central life support unit. The Pod."
The pods contain kitchen and bathroom in one central unit with additional storage, and come in a range of colours including "Glowing Coals" red, "Tree Frog" green and "Natural White" neutral. Kitchens feature Miele and Fisher & Paykel appliances with bathrooms fitted by Roger Seller.
The project features three ground floor retail tenancies.
