Work is poised to begin on the first apartment project on the Gold Coast’s prestigious Sovereign Islands.
The plans for 16 high-end apartments that will boast their own superyacht berths, were submitted in 2023 and approved this year. Construction is slated to begin early next year.
The project, aimed at the ultra-wealthy, covers seven lots along The Sovereign Mile, the main road of the mostly private island that is over the bridge from Paradise Point, 14km north of Surfers Paradise.
Core Property Partners is spearheading the project—dubbed The Sovereign Collection—for Singaporean developer Ching Chiat Kwong, who purchased the site more than a decade ago.
Kwong has acquired one of the four 1200sq m Royal Pavilions residences in the development for his own use.
Priced from $25 million, each of the three-level Royal Pavilions will have four bedrooms, multiple living spaces, a private rooftop with pool and entertaining areas, and a six-car basement garage.
Also in the development are six 550sq m Penthouse Residences that include theatres, billiards rooms, cocktail lounges, private rooftop pools, and a three-car basement garage. Prices start from $9 million.
The projects’s 32-berth superyacht marina will be able to accommodate superyachts up to 30m (100ft), according to the developers, replacing the existing marina at the entrance to the private islands.
Other amenities for the development include a fitness and wellness centre, onsite security and a six-star restaurant, wine bar and patisserie.
MAS Architecture has designed the “superyacht-inspired” Sovereign Collection, with interiors by Koichi Takada.
Core managing director Nathan Andersen said there were few places in Australia that “afford the same opportunity to develop a secure, deepwater marina adjoining luxury residences”.
