The Golden Age Group is pushing on with its 77 townhouse project in Melbourne’s east.
The project was granted a planning permit by VCAT after the Rothelowman-designed plans for the townhouses were rejected by the Glen Waverley Council.
The developer is planning an expressions-of-interest campaign for the townhouses to be built on the site at 583 Ferntree Gully Road, Glen Waverley.
The project, to be known as The Floret, comprises three and four-bedroom townhouses over two and three storeys, with home offices on the bottom floor to better separate work from living, the developer said.
According to Golden Age, the project’s 1000sq m park will “provide much needed amenity for the residents, including an open lawn with a walking track, a fitness station, a barbecue and picnic area and a children’s play area”. There will also be green corridors across the site.
Golden Age chief marketing officer Dandan Zhao said the project would offer several housing options.
“Glen Waverley is an area predominantly dominated by single-family homes and there is little choice when it comes to townhomes, particularly architecturally designed homes that offer a premium feel,” Zhao said.
“It is a highly connected suburb and there is appetite for new developments that cater to not only downsizers but young professionals and young families who are priced out of this area.”
The project is Golden Age’s second in Glen Waverley, 18km east of the Melbourne CBD, after Sky Garden, which is atop The Glen Shopping Centre.
It is Australia’s largest air-rights development project, according to the developer.
Victoria-based developer Golden Age Group’s other projects include Collins House, Sky One at Box Hill, The Harrington Collection at The Rocks, 130 Little Collins in Melbourne and the Ace Hotel in Surry Hills.
