Developer Golden Sedayu has received approval for the latest stage of its $3.8-billion redevelopment of a racecourse on the banks of the Swan River.
The developer has been approved to deliver its $150-million dual-tower project on land at 3 Graham Farmer Freeway, Burswood at the Belmont Park Racecourse Precinct.
The developer submitted the application in October and the Metro Inner South Joint Development Assessment Panel approved the application this month.
DKO Architecture has designing the project of 206 apartments, 10 of which will be affordable.
The towers are 17 and 25 storeys with one level of basement parking apiece for a total of 430 parking spaces.
The taller tower is a six-storey variation to the prescribed height for the area.
Golden Sedayu successfully argued that the height variation “has enabled a design outcome that is responsive to the surrounds of the site” and will “create a contrast in building mass which will provide additional visual interest given the towers prominent location”.
Between them, the towers will offer around 499sq m of retail and food and beverage, as well as 1400sq m of communal open space.
The towers, know as A and B in the masterplan, will be connected via a shared multi-storey car park and servicing areas, well as the northern elevation.
The developer is targeting a 5-star Green Star rating for the site, and is asking for a height extension.
Golden Sedayu is a partnership between Perth’s Golden Group and one of Indonesia’s largest property corporations, Agung Sedayu.
Golden Group has worked on such major Perth developments as the $140-million Golden Square, and housing projects, including the $1-billion Whitby Town, a new community planned for 10,000 people outside Perth and which is currently under construction.
