Work paving the way for what’s been called one of the biggest residential developments in Australia has wound up ahead of construction proper beginning.
Now completed for the Burswood Point project in Perth is a $30-million package of associated infrastructure work, including road upgrades and a pedestrian bridge over the Graham Farmer Freeway.
The works, jointly funded by the WA Government and the developer behind the project, Golden Sedayu, also included a short-span bridge linking Victoria Park Drive to Burswood Point, creating a second point of entry into the development and enhancing overall accessibility, and pedestrian and cyclist facilities.
The multibillion-dollar Burswood Point project covers 38ha of riverfront land between the Swan River and the Belmont Racecourse.
The development will include 4500 apartments, luxury riverfront homes, 91,000sq m of retail space, food and beverage outlets, a five-star hotel and 110,000sq m of parkland and open spaces.
Golden Sedayu managing director Andrew Sugiaputra said the infrastructure would provide seamless access to and from the Burswood Point development.
He said the work would “provide a comprehensive solution to any concerns the public may have regarding traffic associated with Burswood Point”.
“Extensive traffic modelling has been undertaken for the entire development, with Main Roads providing valuable input,” he said.
“These studies have confirmed that the road upgrades will effectively accommodate anticipated traffic volumes.”
Works on the first two towers at Burswood Point, Somerset East and West, are anticipated to start this month and are expected to be completed in the quarter of 2027.
Golden Sedayu is a partnership between WA property developer Golden Group and leading Indonesian project developer Agung Sedayu.
It has been established in WA to develop the Burswood Point project.
