Joint developers of "Park Sydney" Greenland Australia and Golden Horse have appointed Richard Crookes Constructions to build stage one of its Sydney housing project, signing a $150 million construction contract.
The 6.9-hectare site, located in the Ashmore precinct of Erskineville, will soon welcome one of the largest urban renewal projects in Sydney which will feature nine development blocks.
Golden Horse acquired the industrial site from Goodman Group for $380 million in 2015 before partnering with Greenland in 2016 to develop the $1.6 billion project.
A total of 1,400 apartments will be built over five stages as well as retail outlets, cafes and restaurants, childcare centres, a 7400sq m park, walkways and cycleways.

Greenland Australia’s managing director Sherwood Luo said he was excited to see construction commencing.
“It’s great to see projects like this coming to life – together with GH Australia, we’ve been planning Park Sydney since 2016 so it’s particularly exciting to see major projects of this scale starting to take shape and watching how they transform the local area,” Luo said.
“We are converting this large former industrial precinct into an engaging and inclusive residential community that will ultimately become home to some 3000 residents.
Jamie Crookes, Richard Crookes Constructions’ managing director said the company was happy to be appointed on such an iconic project.
“Park Sydney will be a major addition to our portfolio, and we’re really pleased to be delivering Stage 1 of this major urban renewal project,” Crookes said.
The private construction firm has landed some major projects of late, signing on for the residential component of AMP's $3 billion Quay Quarter project.
Stage 1 of Park Sydney will include 330 apartments across two buildings, a fresh food precinct, eat street, medical centre, and a childcare centre.
