Growland’s Victoria Square Wins Top Award

Growland’s Victoria Square Stage One has won the High-Density Development (greater than 10 storeys) at the UDIA Victoria 2021 Awards for Excellence.

The mixed-use development by Growland comprise six high-rise towers with 1039 apartments, as well as 4000sq m of commercial and retail space, set to make an architectural statement in Footscray.

Offering an exceptionally high quality, luxurious product, the team behind Victoria Square strives to elevate the standards of living for its residents, a spokesperson said.

“Victoria Square is a result of collaborations with acclaimed industry experts who together, worked towards delivering architectural and design excellence,” they said.

This approach to Victoria Square included Growland’s desire to celebrate a sense of ownership and belongings to a place which inspired the architectural direction of Victoria Square, the spokesperson said.

“The spirit of Footscray and the contour of the Maribyrnong river is evident in the design of the towers, as fluid planar shapes reflect the surrounding bay and river context.

“The inspiration from Footscray flows seamlessly from the external to the internal, with the lobby an echo of Footscray’s historical wharf, featuring a rhythmic pattern fin run across the wall.”

Growland continues this flow by incorporating aspects of Victoria Square’s surroundings and achieving interior balance between the rich history of Footscray and the contemporary urban scene that evoke liveliness.

“Residents of Victoria Square can enjoy access to amenities that promote health and lifestyle balance, a priority for this project,” the spokesperson said.

“Facilities such as Australia’s first Olympic-sized aerial outdoor track, more than 2000sq m of landscaped terrace, a heated indoor pool, private dining, theatre room, games room and library, are available for use by residents.
