A $20-million luxury apartment development has been proposed for “Australia’s Best Tourist Town” by developer Hampton Projects.
Proposed for the 975sq m site at 4-6 High Street, Yamba, 670km north of Sydney and 280km south of Brisbane, is a 31-apartment block up to five storeys designed by Myers Architecture.
Yamba was this year named Best Tourist Town in Australia by Australian Traveller Magazine.
The site is within walking distance of amenities, including the town centre, the Pacific Hotel, Yamba Lighthouse, a farmers’ market, and beaches.
Apartments would be a mix of two, three, and four bedrooms with balconies and terraces. Facilities would include a rooftop communal space with a pool, barbecue area, gym and sauna. There are also plans in the works for a penthouse, but these would contravene current height restrictions.
A basement carpark would provide 31 spaces and feature stackers, adaptive spaces to cater for individuals with mobility requirements, and a car-wash bay.
The project would include onsite stormwater treatment and detention, and energy-efficient designs as confirmed by a BASIX Certificate.
The project aligns with local and state planning strategies, aiming to support Yamba’s evolution as a higher-order settlement, according to the plans.
Meanwhile, the Clifton Yamba $80-million independent living community 2km west of the high street is now at Stage Nine. The land-lease estate is part of developer Clifton Lifestyle’s plan to deliver 216 self-contained manufactured homes in the town’s north-west.
