Homecorp Cleared for Two More Varsity Lakes Towers

Varsity Lakes Homecorp Approval render hero

Developer Ron Bakir’s Homecorp Property Group has been given approval for the final stage of a four-tower project within the Gold Coast education and technology hub of Varsity Lakes.

The greenlight from the Gold Coast City Council paves the way for 289 two and three-bedroom apartments across two towers rising 12 and 14 storeys.

Upscaled plans were filed in March for Stage Two of Homecorp’s Cienna Varsity Ridge project, which spans an elevated 1.3ha site between Bond University and Robina Town Centre.

Under the reworked scheme designed by BDA Architecture, the two approved towers were initially increased in height from 10 to 12 storeys and 9 to 16 storeys.

But in subsequent plans submitted after “careful consideration of community and council feedback” the taller tower was scaled back to 14 storeys.

Homecorp’s revised proposal also bumped up the apartment yield of the final stage by an additional 101 units to 289, from the earlier approved 188.

“This project represents a vital step in addressing the needs of our residents and enhancing the housing supply across the southern Gold Coast,” Bakir said.

“We’ve listened to the feedback received, and in collaboration with the council, developed a proposal that truly reflects the community’s vision for the future.

“This is a fantastic outcome for local residents and together we’re creating something that truly fosters a greater sense of connection within our community.”

The project will also feature a range of resident amenities, including a large swimming pool, gym, cafes, a dog off-leash park area, landscaped gardens, communal dining spaces, rooftop areas and local retail stores.

Overall, a surplus of 20 carparks above planning code will be provided for residents and visitors, with each apartment provided with parking spaces and access to bike parks.

Construction is due to begin in early 2025 and will be delivered by Homecorp’s new in-house construction arm.

At the corner of Main Street and University Drive, Stage One of Cienna Varsity Ridge with 257 one and two-bedroom apartments was completed in mid-2023 and is fully occupied by renters and owner-occupiers.
