HVG Facades Commits to Sustainability with EnviroSmart

hgv facades april spons

The commitment to sustainability is one of HVG Façade’s core business objectives with an aim to minimise any negative impact it has on the environment.

Last year, HVG Facades recycled more than 74,000kg of combustible cladding waste through its EnviroSmart program.

To help break that figure down, the benefit of replacing and recycling that level of combustible cladding compares to removing 129 cars from roads and saving the equivalent energy that would power 371 households per year.

As well, HVG Facades’ EnviroSmart program delivered a large water saving—equating to approximately two Olympic-size swimming pools. The recycling program also saved space in landfill, comparable to more than 3600 wheelie bins.

“At HVG Facades, we aim to minimise any negative impact we have on the environment,” a spokesperson said.

“When it comes to choosing partners, we seek out only ethical manufacturers who have proven outstanding environmental credentials, achieved by adhering to strict processes and procedures.

“The materials we offer provide long-life performance, are low maintenance, and are extremely durable, therefore reducing the overall environmental footprint of the building.”

Together with its business partners, HVG Facades looks for opportunities to support and promote long-term sustainability initiatives and solutions that have a positive impact on the environment.

▲ Sustainability is one of the key goals for HVG Facades.

Aluminium, for example, is 100 per cent recyclable and experiences no loss of properties or quality during the recycling process.

When you recycle aluminium, it only requires 5 per cent of the energy that’s used to create new aluminium and emits just 5 per cent of the greenhouse gases.

It’s for these reasons that approximately 75 per cent of the aluminium ever produced is still in use today.

EnviroSmart: sustainable management and recycling

In partnership with approved recycling experts, HVG Facades has created EnviroSmart.

The program seeks to address a significant need in the construction industry in a sustainable manner that contributes to the future health of the planet.

As an end-to-end solution that is cost-effective and safe, EnviroSmart removes and recycles aluminium composite panels. As a transparent solution, EnviroSmart can provide certified documentation of the entire process.

As part of the program, EnviroSmart guarantees 100 per cent of non-compliant Aluminium Composite Panel (ACP) cladding material will be diverted from landfill. HVG Facade’s system ensures that the aluminium and PolyEthylene (PE) core from these panels are recycled here in Australia.

“We will help to stimulate a circular economy that will continue to move away from singular-use products by feeding recyclables back into the manufacturing stage to be reused and recycled again,” the spokesperson said.

▲ HVG Facades follows the recycling process from end to end.

“We aim to continue to work with manufacturers to determine where the recycled product will be repurposed.”

Making recladding even greener

In addition to recycling and reusing non-compliant aluminium cladding, HVG Facades has gone one step further by teaming with Carbon Positive Australia to plant trees and restore the Australian landscape.

So, for every qualified project where non-compliant cladding is removed and recycled using the EnviroSmart program, HVG Facades will donate and plant trees on your behalf with Carbon Positive Australia.

When you take part in EnviroSmart’s tree planting scheme you’ll receive a certificate acknowledging your much-appreciated donation from Carbon Positive Australia.

“As more and more corporations seek ways to conduct business in an environmentally friendly way, recladding with EnviroSmart can help with your own green visibility.

“Together, we can pool our efforts to make more sustainable choices for good.”

When choosing EnviroSmart for your next recladding project, you’ll be making connections with like-minded companies who are just as concerned about the future of the planet as you are.
