Iconic Hotels Launches New Hotel As Part of $200m City Precinct

f25ba304-60d6-4823-b9c0-be06c59b95cc

Independent hotel operator Iconic Hotels is on track to deliver its first premium hotel brand, Midnight Hotel, to the Canberra accommodation market later this year.

Midnight Hotel will be the eighth hotel delivered to market by Iconic Hotels, the hotels division of leading independent property developer, Geocon.

Featuring 199 premium rooms, a restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool, wellness centre, conference and event spaces and guest lounge, the hotel is part of Geocon’s $200 million development in Braddon, central Canberra.

The Midnight precinct is the first city-based development built by Geocon opening this year, and brings 255 residential apartments and 2,600sq m of commercial space to the city, in addition to the hotel.

Designed by acclaimed Australian architect firm, Fender Katsalidis, Midnight Hotel celebrates high design and unique architecture packaged in a chic, authentic setting. Just metres from the Elouera Street Light Rail stop, and part of the emerging creative and cultural neighbourhood of Braddon, Midnight Hotel promises a vibrant hub for guests and locals.

General manager of Iconic Hotels, Rien Donkin said that delivering Midnight Hotel is an exciting milestone for the organisation.

Featuring 199 premium rooms, a restaurant, bar, indoor swimming pool, wellness centre, conference and event spaces and guest lounge, the hotel is part of Geocon’s $200 million development in Braddon, central Canberra.

“Midnight Hotel offers a point of difference for the global guest coming to Canberra. The hotel celebrates a lifestyle philosophy, focused on providing guests and locals with unique experiences that are memorable and authentic,” Donkin said.

“Midnight Hotel is a natural progression for Iconic Hotels, and a brand which further complements our existing portfolio.”

On track for completion, the Midnight development is now in the final stages of construction. Internal fit out and landscaping is now the core focus of the project.

The Canberra public had a first look at the façade of the building at the start of July, with much of the construction scaffold currently being removed.

With more than 58,000 labour hours accrued on the development to date, and the keys set for handover later this month, Midnight Hotel is on track to welcome its first guests in September.
