InterContinental Hong Kong: Inside Asia Pacific's Biggest Ever Hotel Sale


The sale of the InterContinental Hong Kong represented one of the most exceptional hotel transactions this century – for both buyer and seller.

JLL brokered the sale with a consortium of investors put together by Gaw Capital. The transaction resulted in a deal valued at US$938 million, representing the largest single hotel transaction ever in Asia Pacific and the second largest in the world. At a price per key of US$1.87 million, the sale was the highest ever price per key paid for a single asset in Asia.


Internationally acclaimed as one of the world’s top hotels for business and leisure, InterContinental Hong Kong has always been prized for its unrivalled views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island.

The hotel features 498 contemporary guest rooms, including 87 harbourview suites, all of which have high-speed broadband internet access, SHARP LCD televisions, BOSE DVD/CD home entertainment sound systems with iPod docking stations and 24-hour butler service and in-room dining. Other "around-the-clock" services include 24-hour Concierge and business services.

The hotel's stunning Presidential Suite is one of the most spectacular in Asia and the largest in Hong Kong at 7,000 square feet with a 2,500 square feet terrace with an infinity swimming pool overlooking Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. Dramatic dining options include two celebrity restaurants - NOBU InterContinental Hong Kong and the 1-Michelin star SPOON by Alain Ducasse, plus the 2-Michelin star Yan Toh Heen (for Cantonese cuisine), the THE STEAK HOUSE winebar + grill and Harbourside (popular for its extensive international buffets).

The Lobby Lounge is renowned for its spectacular panoramic views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. Drinks, snacks, afternoon tea or evening cocktails here with the Hong Kong skyline as the dramatic backdrop is a magical experience.

The InterContinental Ballroom (Hong Kong's largest) and 11 harbourview function rooms, offer "Events with Style" and "Meetings to Inspire".

The Presidential Suite, at 7,000 square feet, is the largest suite in Hong Kong and one of the most spectacular in Asia. It was named one of the World's Sexiest Penthouses by The Suite features a duplex living room, five bedrooms, a dining room, private gym, and study. Most amazing is the suite's 2,500 square foot terrace with a rooftop infinity swimming pool with IMAX views of Victoria Harbour and Hong Kong Island. The Presidential Suite butler is on call 24-hours to attend to guests' every wish.
