The Calile promises to be Brisbane's new icon.
Located in Brisbane's vibrant James Street, the mixed-use project is due for completion in the first half of 2018.
On the corner of James and Doggett Streets, current excavation is taking place for a brand new luxury hotel. Designed by Richards & Spence Architects, The Calile is located on bustling James Street bounded by James, Doggett and Wandoo Streets. The Calile will reach a height of seven storeys and will comprise 178 generously sized luxury hotel rooms and suites together with over 2,600 square meters of new retail and hospitality space.
Subtropical in style, the development promises a resort feel in a city-fringe location, making it a true urban oasis. It seeks to embrace Brisbane’s sunshine, blue skies and love of outdoor living to create a hotel that will set a new standard in design and service for travellers and locals alike.
A mix of ground floor boutiques, restaurants and cafés will give way to the podium level designed to be a raised urban landscape – complete with pool, cabanas, a poolside restaurant, day spa, fitness centre and business centre. The podium level will also house a function room with capacity to host banquets for up to 300 seated guests. Basement parking will be provided for 220 vehicles.
Th project is being developed by Calile Malouf Investments (CMI) who also delivered the highly acclaimed James St Market. The new development will take on the name ‘Calile’ which has held significance for the family.
TFE Hotels CEO Rachel Argaman is confident that The Calile is set to become Brisbane’s most enduring hotel.
“We are really excited to be partnering with CMI, who have been instrumental in transforming James Street into the most sought-after destination in one of Australia’s fastest growing cities,” she said.
“This will be a sophisticated and fun resort experience in an urban location - where people will meet for drinks with friends, to shop or for a fun night out, taking advantage of that glorious sub-tropical outdoor lifestyle that Brisbane has to offer.”
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said The Calile was one of several luxury hotels that have been secured for Brisbane since the Hotel Investment Strategy was launched in 2011 and would be a welcome addition to Brisbane’s hotel offering.
“The Calile has taken advantage of Council’s new four and five star hotels incentive, designed to drive investment for new high-quality hotels in Brisbane,” Cr Quirk said.
“This hotel will deliver a much-needed boutique accommodation option to cater to Brisbane’s ever-increasing number of visitors and residents, and will create many new jobs and opportunities for the city.”
