The agreement follows Japan multinationals Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group signing two seperate agreements last month to solidify a presence in the new airport city.

Defence industry giants, the United States-based Northrup Gruman, have also committed $50 million for a centre within the site.

Hitachi, a global technology player, said it has plans to “help Western Sydney achieve its vision of creating a new city at the forefront of technology globally”.

The company said it plans to provide state-of-the-art precinct design and social infrastructure services.

Areas identified in the agreement include collaborations in healthcare precincts, operation facilities in heavy engineering, and the development of a technology-led centre of excellence in the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

The Aerotropolis and the region surrounding the sirport is a priority for both state and federal governments, attracting public investment of more than $20 billion across transport, health and education infrastructure.

An education precinct is set to be established in the precinct following the announcement of four universities, Western Sydney University, University of Newcastle, University of NSW and University of Wollongong, signing on to develop a "world class" university in Aerotropolis.

Hitachi Group has approximately 307,000 employees worldwide. The company’s consolidated revenues for fiscal 2017 totalled $88.4 billion.
