Jeff Xu continues to buy the Melbourne sky

C

Thirty-five year old Managing Director of the Golden Age Group Jeff Xu continues to buy up the Melbourne skyline with his most recent acquisition of the Makers Mark 1908 building on 466 Collins Street.

The luxury development company continues to expand their presence in Melbourne, announcing in recent weeks that their $25 million dollar site purchase 460-466 Collins Street will emerge as Collins House, a residential skyscraper.

Since the acquisition of the 483 square meter site in 2014 from previous developer

Equiset, the what will be 11.5-meter wide tower is rumored to reach 200 meters in height and home 300 apartments, an increase from previous reports detailing the dwelling would contain 172, three bedroom apartments.

An early proposal submitted by previous owner Equiset in September 2013 called for 55 levels, holding a modest 185 apartments in the tower. Although no final decision on the height of the tower has been made public, the Golden Age Group following Equiset’s efforts to increase the height of the tower prior to their selling lodged amended plans during August of 2014.

Set to be one of Melbourne’s most prestigious skyscrapers, Melbourne based firm

Bates Smart, has been appointed to design the tower, bringing their sophisticated experience in exuberant design to create a new standard of luxury living in West End Melbourne.

Collins House will soon join a plethora of successful developments, including the Sheraton Melbourne Hotel, spearheaded by Developer Jeff Xu, as he continues to transform Melbourne’s skyline. Mr Xu told

The Asian Executive “I love seeing how Eastern and Western cultures meld in Melbourne. You can see it in the Asian fusion-dining scene, thriving Chinatown and move towards apartment living in the CBD. There are no borders anymore, every country influences another and that is why our projects appeal locally and internationally”.

The development of Collins House is following the Golden Age Groups’ most recent luxury residential venture Opera, which is envisioned to become a contemporary landmark of elegance on St Kilda Road.

Applications of interest are being accepted now.
