Darling Square, the new urban neighbourhood at the southern end of the precinct will house approximately 2,000 people along with student accommodation housing around 1,000 students, 2,000sqm of community space, 7,000sqm of retail and 15,000sqm of commercial space.

It will form part of the Darling Harbour Live re-development precinct which spans across 20 hectares and will include a new International Convention Centre (ICC) including a convention, exhibition and an entrainment theatre.

A landmark hotel is also proposed to be built in the north of the site, adjacent to the new venues.

Construction of the ICC is currently underway. Darling Harbour Live has a planned staged completion from 2016 to 2019.
