Matt Moran Unveils Barangaroo Restaurant Plans

C

Leading Australian chef and restaurateur

Matt Moran has announced he will be bringing his passion for Australian food, drinks and hospitality to

Barangaroo.

Moran with his business partner, Peter Sullivan from MorSul (Moran and Sullivan), together with Bruce Solomon and Anna Solomon of Solotel, will create a unique experience at Barangaroo across a three level offering due to open in early 2016.

The restaurant will be housed in a stunning architecturally designed building by Sydney architects,

Collins and Turner.

In seeking inspiration, Collins and Turner looked to the kitchen which led to the design of a series of stacked shallow bowls all different in diameters and profile.

The structure will sit proud at the southern end of the waterfront dining precinct and will create a significant entry statement along the harbour foreshore to Barangaroo.

Head of Retail Development and Asset Management for Lend Lease, Gary Horwitz, acknowledged that attracting the right operator to undertake this venture was critical and that the signing of Matt Moran is testament to the vision that is being created for the waterfront dining precinct at Barangaroo.

“Matt Moran is an iconic Australian restaurateur who has consistently delivered some of Australia’s best restaurants and venues. We are thrilled to include Barangaroo to his list of accomplishments and we have no doubt the MorSul and Solotel team will deliver something truly special that Sydney has not seen before at a harbourside dining precinct.”

The site is currently under construction at Barangaroo and is scheduled to open in-line with the launch of the waterfront dining precinct in early 2016.

It will be a stand-alone building which allows for an offering to be delivered over three levels and it was this uniqueness and location that caught the eye of Matt Moran.

“When we were first approached by Lend Lease about joining the precinct, it was the location of the site which was key in our decision making. We intend to deliver a truly Australian experience at this world-class waterfront venue,” said Matt.

"Whether you are looking for a casual bar and restaurant, a more premium restaurant or a rooftop garden bar, we will have it all with our offering at Barangaroo and use only the best locally sourced produce to create a showpiece of Sydney dining."The MorSul and Solotel partnership has a proven track record having delivered some of Australia’s most noted restaurants and venues, including ARIA Sydney, ARIA Brisbane, CHISWICK and North Bondi Fish, as well as Opera Bar at the Sydney Opera House.

Andrew Wilson, Managing Director of Barangaroo South

believes Barangaroo will enhance Sydney’s position as one of the world’s most spectacular harbour cities.

“Barangaroo is one of the most exciting urban regeneration projects currently underway anywhere in the world. Our team is working to deliver a waterfront dining precinct and retail mix which will position Barangaroo as one of the best places to work and live in an urban city.

"Lend Lease is very pleased to announce Matt Moran as our first major retail tenant for Barangaroo and we look forward to seeing his vision unfold.”
