Mirvac’s Forge Tower Signals The Next Chapter For Yarra's Edge Precinct

Mirvac’s $200 million Forge residential tower has officially reached completion and welcomed residents into the first chapter of the Wharf’s Entrance precinct at Yarra’s Edge.

Standing approximately 100 metres tall, Forge tower was positioned at the western end of the precinct and contains 228 apartments, with some featuring notable views of the city skyline, including the Yarra River and Port Phillip Bay.

Mirvac General Manager of Residential Victoria Elysa Anderson said the completion of Forge marked a significant milestone in the development of Wharf’s Entrance, which was the final precinct in the Yarra’s Edge community.

“As the first completed tower in Wharf’s Entrance, residents of Forge will benefit from a range of amenity including a private dining room and cinema room for entertaining, as well as the vibrant community that is already established at Yarra’s Edge,” Ms Anderson said.

“Wharf’s Entrance transforms what was once an old wharf, and follows the success of Yarra’s Edge to date in creating one of Melbourne’s most culturally vibrant and liveable communities with unparalleled waterfront access, a realisation of Mirvac’s purpose to reimagine urban life.”

Forge’s exterior was designed to bring a lightness to Yarra’s Edge through the use of silver glass and steel, with expressive architecture alluding to the movement of the surrounding Yarra River.

Mirvac also commissioned environmental artist and sculptor Ned Kahn to create an urban art installation, ’Fluid Lines’, on the Lorimer Street and Regatta Way podium façade, an eye-catching masterpiece that created movement on the building with a ripple-like affect that responds to the natural phenomena of wind.

“The completion of Forge is a momentous event for Yarra’s Edge, which is now home to a lively community of more than 3,000 people,” Ms Anderson said.

Forge’s location offers easy access to community amenity within walking distance, including a café, several restaurants and a supermarket.

The next chapter of the Wharf’s Entrance precinct will commence in mid-2017 with the completion of Mirvac’s health and wellbeing facility, The Wharf Club, which will feature a pool, expansive fitness centre and café.

Residents will also benefit from being less than two kilometres from the Crown entertainment complex, 15 minutes’ walk to South Wharf and less than three kilometres to Southbank.

Upon coming home, residents will enter Forge’s lobby featuring an aquarium, fireplace, original wharf timbers and luxe copper highlights.

Forge offers flexible apartment options including one and two-bedroom artist studios, one-bedroom lofts and two-bedroom maisonettes, as well as three-bedroom homes ranging up to 151 square metres in size.

At the time of completion, 75 per cent of apartments have already been sold.
