SA Safari Park Goes Wild for Glamping

Monarto Park Hero

A South-Australian zoo has filed a development application to expand its out-in-the-wild luxury accommodation experience.

Safari Park Investments is planning a guest centre with infinity pools and glamping tents for its 525 Monarto Road, Rocky Gully property.

Monarto Safari Park, formerly Monarto Zoological Park, is the largest open-range zoo outside Africa.

In 2015, ZoosSA—a not-for-profit conservation charity—released a 20-year masterplan for Adelaide Zoo and the Monarto Safari Park.

Developments so far at Monarto Safari Park under the masterplan includes  Lions 360, an interactive lions den where the humans are in a cage; a visitor centre, and learning centre.

Under the application to expand the Wild Africa experience 20 glamping tents would be built, replacing current accommodation structures.

Intro Architecture is the designers and planners for the Wild Africa glamping proposal.

A luxury hotel is currently under construction and due to open in the second quarter of this year at the park.

Animals in the 1500ha park include elephants, hippos, cheetahs, lemurs, and chimpanzees and there are interactive experiences dedicated to specific species.
