Multiplex has won the job to build out the $300-million ultra-luxury development on the Southport Spit, the Mantaray Marina and Residences.
The project is being delivered by project partners Gordon Corp founder Tim Gordon and pub baron Bruce Mathieson.
It will be the first new development on The Spit since Palazzo Versace more than two decades ago.
The Rothelowman-designed residences comprise 24 two, three and four-bedroom apartments, villas and penthouses alongside a 67-berth superyacht marina and resort facilities.
But the centrepiece of the project will be The Mantaray Club—an exclusive members-only on-water lounge.
“A development of this calibre requires a Tier-1 contractor and our partnership with Multiplex provides quality, certainty, and more than 60 years of local and international experience,” Gordon said.
“Mantaray Marina and Residences has been designed as a world-class residential experience and our investment in this precinct will create one of the globe’s most coveted residential and superyachting destinations.
“The Mantaray Club is the centrepiece of the superyacht precinct, providing an unrivalled marina and clubhouse experience.
“Residents and members can enjoy the highest standards of personal service including an arrival and departure lounge, restaurant and bar facilities, sun deck, and private dining and meeting rooms.”
Gordon said members of The Mantaray Lounge would also have access to general superyacht marina operations, boat and berth hire, and concierge services.
Designed to ‘Platinum’ Gold Anchor status, the superyacht marina will provide long and short-term berth leasing, immediate ocean passage through the Gold Coast Seaway and year-round deep-water access, world-class marina operations, on-site security, and full-service concierge.
An activated retail plaza designed to create a strong link between The Broadwater and the Pacific Ocean will connect the precinct to its surrounds and provide access to leading restaurants and cafes.
It is also the first development to be delivered under The Spit Master Plan.
Multiplex regional director Michael Sinclair said construction would start in early 2024.
“Delivering an integrated residential, retail and superyacht precinct to a standard Australia hasn’t experienced until now is an exciting undertaking for our team, who are well versed in premium mixed-use developments,” Sinclair said.
“Like many Tier-1 builders, we are selective about the projects we undertake and The Mantaray Marina and Residences is without doubt an exceptional addition to our workbook.”
Sinclair said the project would create up to 300 jobs during the two-year construction program, which included the delivery of the superyacht marina, luxury residences and retail precinct.
Three and four-bedroom residences at The Mantaray start from $8.5 million and the penthouse collection starts from $14.4 million.
