Landcom is working with a community housing provider to redevelop the abandoned Queenscliff Community Health Centre at North Manly.
Link Wentworth would manage future tenancies in the development, a third of which would be specifically targeted at single women aged 55 years or older.
The 1971-built facility designed by E H Farmer and the surrounding 4000sq m site would be transformed into 31 studio, four one bedroom and two two-bedroom apartments under the proposal.
The health centre closed in 2018 and a development was approved in August, 2023 for the lots at the corner of Pittwater Road and Lakeside Crescent, North Manly.
Architects Integrated Design Group created the approved adaptive reuse plan that includes a 12-room boarding house, 25 units and communal areas in the old facility.
Last week modification plans were filed to add an electrical kiosk, increase accessibility, and install electrical and plumbing systems.
The new paperwork was filed last week with the Northern Beaches Council. The estimated project cost is around $10.9 million.
Link Wentworth is one of the largest community housing providers in the country, managing around 6400 homes.
This is the second developement for the community housing provider in partnership with Landcom after a 135-home project at Lachlan’s Line at North Ryde.
That project includes two 14-storey towers within the former industrial area, which would eventually supply about 2700 homes.
