The slew of islands coming to market continues with a “surf and turf” property on the southern Great Barrier Reef the latest.
Being sold by an offers-to-purchase campaign, Spadely Station is a 1500ha freehold cattle property on North Curtis Island in Keppel Bay, just off the Central Queensland coast, north of Gladstone.
The property, which has seven freehold titles, a grassed 850m airstrip, safe anchorage and boat ramp, access to 17km of beaches, a residential block with building approval fronting the beach, an old Queenslander residence, good gravel roads and sheds, is being taken to market by Knight Frank and Ray White Rural.
Once owned by cattle baron Sir Graham McCamley and family, the property has been restored by its current owners.
It features new yards, internal fencing, dams, freshwater lagoons, and marine couch, legumes and tropical grasses.
“This property will be heaven for anyone looking for a beach retreat with something extra, combining a productive rural enterprise with year-round crabbing, fishing and boating within the Southern Great Barrier Reef Marine Park,” Ray White Rural’s Richard Brosnan said.
“Freehold-title fronting the beach is exceedingly rare, and means whoever buys the property will have an intergenerational asset ready for whatever the future brings.”
“We have seen the attraction of private islands continuing beyond Covid with Dunk, Hook, Long Island Resorts, Lindeman and others being sold or under contract, confirming the desire for security and privacy for those with vision and means,,” Knight Frank Agribusiness Queensland agent Greg Roberts said.
Earlier this week, the Sydney owners of a Fijian island resort announced they would sell it after more than 12 years at the helm.
Yasawa Island Resort & Spa is off the north-west side of Fiji’s main islands and accessed via a 25-minute flight from Nadi International airport.
The facility is the sole occupant on the 30ha island and comprises 18 luxury beachfront bungalows, an airstrip, bar, eatery and day spa.
And earlier in the month is was revealed Lindeman Island had sold to an unnamed high-net-worth Singaporean family in a $10-million deal while Pumpkin Island, best known as XXXX Island after its role with the Queensland brewer, was being offered for sale.
The offers-to-purchase campaign for Spadely Station closes on May 17.
