Perth-based developer Hesperia has acquired two carparks north-west of the Perth CBD and will develop a mixed-use project as part of its $300-million commitment to the area.
The developer bought the car parks in Leederville—The Frame Court and The Avenue—from the City of Vincent. They comprise 464 parking bays next to the Leederville train station.
Hesperia plans for the transit-orientated development include apartments, other accommodation, retail, restaurants and a multi-storey carpark. It said it would make a $300 million investment in the area.
Mayor Alison Xamon said there would be no disruptions to public parking during the construction phase as nearby sites would be opened up to create the same number of existing spaces.
“The Property Council WA’s transit precincts report ranked Leederville as the number one location in Perth for transit-oriented development and we are confident that Hesperia’s plans will live up to that,” Xamon said.
She said the redevelopment would attract more foot traffic, boosting restaurants, cafes and other businesses.
Hesperia director Rowan Clarke said the collaboration between Hesperia and the City of Vincent would create a sustainable future for the town.
He said Leederville was near bustling retail, residential and heritage sites.
“We have been very deliberate in ensuring there is not a dominant new use or activity in the town centre and have made allowance for future development opportunities to ensure that Leederville remains a place that offers something for everyone,” Clarke said.
Public carparks available upon completion will top 500 plus and would be spread out across the two carparks.
