Sydney developer Platino Properties is planning a 350-apartment project across six buildings on the Northern Beaches as it continues to expand its over-55s portfolio.
The concept and stage one application seeks to extend the Skyline Place seniors precinct at Frenchs Forest to 1-3 Skyline Place.
The proposal adds to Platino’s first over-55s community, dubbed Jardin, on the same street, which was filed in 2018. The second stage of the community was approved in 2023 after a successful appeal in the NSW Land and Environment Court. That stage is now under construction.
The latest proposal, the third stage, comprises six buildings of 6 to 14 storeys on the 2.2ha site.
Planned for the first stage of the proposal are 200 independent living units.
The Smith and Tzannes-designed scheme is on exhibition with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure until July 9.
A planning report by Keylan included in the DA said the buildings would support housing diversity within the Northern Beaches LGA and co-locate senior developments near the hospital.
“It is consistent with, and supports the evolving character of, the Frenchs Forest Health and Education Precinct, as identified in the Greater Sydney Region and North District Plans,” the report said.
“The proposal will facilitate a $343-million investment into the development of the site (including $168 million within Stage 1 alone) and will facilitate over 1700sq m of employment generating floor space across the entire site.”
CoreLogic property records show Miele Australia Pty Ltd sold the 3 Skyline Place property for $28.3m in 2023. The 1 Skyline Place property changed hands in 2014.
Frenchs Forest has undergone a resurgence after the state government declared the suburb a priority precinct eight years ago.
