Having completed the Butterfly Pavilion on Noor Island in the middle of the capital of the Arab Emirate Sharjah in December, German design studio 3deluxe is now releasing first image material of another design element on Noor Island: the Butterfly Aviary.

A project headed by Austrian developers Artevent GmbH on the lagoon island, 3deluxe is currently designing a 2.5 ha transmedia landscape park, interwoven with an ensemble of several themed pavilions and buildings. After the opening of the park in mid-December, further attractions will be added in the course of the coming weeks and months.

The Butterflies

The butterflies thriving within this sphere have an average lifespan of about a week after hatching from their cocoons. It is all the more effortful to sustain the climate conditions essential for their wellbeing. 3deluxe have created a biotope with a constant room temperature of 26°C and high atmospheric humidity. Visitors have the opportunity to encounter the flying insects at close range, for instance at one of the feeding sites with sugar water and fruit. The gaze follows them and loses itself in plants, leaves and ornaments of the tropical world.
