An innovative car parking solution thought to be the first of its kind in Australia is the latest construction project to kick off at Stockland's $5 billion Oceanside Kawana destination.
Six months after work began on the first commerical site within the Oceanside Health Hub, an 8-storey multi-deck carpark with ground floor retail space is being built in the allied health, commercial, aged care, retail, accommodation and high-density residential precinct.
A critical infrastructure component for the Health Hub, the 581-bay carpark has achieved a reduction of around 200 car spaces within the major precinct by consolidating the parking needs of many of the individual developments which will be located there.
Stockland Regional Manager for the Sunshine Coast, Ben Simpson, said the $18 million project was being developed by Excel Development Group.

It followed an assessment that found a separate multi-level parking station in the Oceanside Health Hub would decrease the number of parking spaces required in up to six commercial buildings in the precinct.
"By reducing the total number of car spaces and locating them in a single off-site location, a more sustainable outcome is being achieved that will assist with future plans to encourage greater public transport dependance at Oceanside," Mr Simpson said.
