The covers have been lifted on a waterfront apartment project north of Brisbane.
Plans have now been filed for almost 70 apartments at Sandstone Point, about 70km north-east of Brisbane and across the water from the much-loved Bribie Island.
The site for the proposal by Ignite Projects overlooks Pumicestone Passage and will be co-located with the Spinnaker Sound Marina, which itself will undergo a multimillion-dollar upgrade.
That precinct was being renamed Sandstone Point Marina to “reflect the region’s increasing recognition and popularity”, the developer said.
The marina upgrade would include a substantial waterside deck and new landscaping. Other options to improve the marina, established more than 40 years ago, were being explored in consultation with the community, Gold-Coast-based Ignite said.
Plans now before the Moreton Bay Council show two buildings each of five storeys with a total of 67 apartments and more than 250sq m of exclusive recreation areas.
The block, dubbed Anchorage, will offer apartments in two, three and four bedrooms. The developer said future plans included boutique townhouses.
Amenities include a swimming pool, bicycle parking, watercraft storage and parking for 129 cars, including visitors.
A further 32 carspaces for marina guests will be included in Anchorage’s secure basement.
The site was near cafes, restaurants, a convenience centre and the Sandstone Point Hotel, a popular live music and events venue that “has been instrumental in putting the region on the map”, Ignite said.
Ignite Projects said it was in the process of acquiring the marina, which comprised a marine lease covering more than 150 berths, together with associated landholdings.
