Anson Greenlit for 197-Unit Eastern Sydney Plans

Anson Randwick EDM

Anson Group has been greenlit for a 197-apartment residential shoptop development at Randwick.

Anson filed plans for the site at 77 to 103 Anzac Parade and 59A to 71 Boronia Street, Kensington, in September 2022—a 16-month development application process.

According to the NSW Department of Planning, in 2022-23, average assessment timeframes for multi-unit residential homes reached 182 days.

Anson Group, which has been operating in Sydney for 15 years, amalgamated 14 lots to create the 6296sq m site in the City of Randwick.

The $104-million project will deliver four buildings of four and nine storeys, according to BCI Central.

They will comprise 197 apartments of one, two and three bedrooms, with Buildings C and D at nine storeys each fronting Anzac Parade, while the Boronia Steet buildings will be four storeys.

They will be connected by an upper level infill built form and 245 carparks in a two-level basement.

▲ BVN has designed the project, which includes an east-to-west throughfare link.

Six units will be allocated as affordable housing.

The site was now home to two-storey commercial and retail tenancies, while other buildings were vacant and outdated, Anson said.

At the time of the application, Anson said that the proposal would deliver short and long-term employment opportunities, “stimulate economic activities to support rapid economic recovery, and deliver a publicly accessible site through link and much needed retail services, including a supermarket for the community”.

The majority of the site forms part of the Kensington Town Centre, which has been subject to comprehensive planning review relating to building heights and densities to encourage further infrastructure and floor space.
