Seamless Cooktop Eliminates Need for Range Hood

One of the world’s leading appliance makers has turned the concept of odour and vapour elimination in kitchens on its head.

ILVE’s INDD94 induction cooktop with integrated downdraft hood eliminates the need for an over-top exhaust hood, an often imposing and dominating aspect of kitchens.

Rather than a hood, the cooktop features a closing flap that, when in operation, allows for optimum efficiency and when closed stops anything falling inside and also prevents odours from escaping.

The result is a seamless and aesthetic cooktop solution that integrates into modern kitchen design. The black glass appearance works perfectly with any number of benchtop materials and colour schemes, including marble and other stone.

The flap’s outer surface is made from the same glass as the hob, creating that seamless look.

The grease filter and the steel drip pan that catch grease and liquids can be lifted out even with the flap in place and all internal ducting components are made from stainless steel, ensuring easy cleaning for a high hygiene level.

As well, the glass flap can also be removed to make it easier to clean inside.

All liquids, including condensation, are collected in an internal tray with a drain valve. An electronic sensor warns when the tray is full and stops motor operation until it has been emptied.

In another advantage over the traditional range hood, the motor is located in the plinth, away from the user and therefore making it quieter and easier for the induction top to be serviced without having to remove the hob from the bench top.

The product can be installed in any base unit measuring at least 90cm wide and 60cm deep, and is telescopic in height and depth.

For deeper base units, the motor can be rotated and located at the back.

The induction cooktop can be installed in a non-flush or flush position. To allow users to manage two larger areas of equal size, the two zones are activated at the same time and controlled simultaneously.

For safety, the top is equipped with the residual heat indicator. As an induction cooktop, the cooking zone does not heat up directly, but through the return heat transmitted by the pan.

After switching off the zone, the display shows a ‘H’ illuminated and, as long as it is active, you can use it to heat up or defrost food.

The cooktop also features a pause function and recall: by touching a key, heating and a timer can be locked or unlocked.

As well, it offers Boost mode to speed up the heating process with additional power for 10 minutes.

The ILVE INDD94 brings together cooking and extracting in a single appliance, helping architects, developers, designers and homeowners create a kitchen of unparalleled aesthetic appeal all the while offering the safety, convenience and practicality that this European brand has built its reputation upon across the world.
