Sheida Group Wins Approval for Hope Island Masterplan

Marina Point Hope Island

Sheida Group has received planning approval for a four-tower resort-style residential precinct on the Gold Coast’s Hope Island.

Led by Rick Sheida, Sheida Group’s latest project will comprise four buildings ranging from three to nine storeys and offering 199 apartments above parking for 454 vehicles.

The masterplanned precinct is planned for a 2.4ha waterfront block at the corner of the Coomera River junction, one of three remaining undeveloped sites on the island. It will be targeted at affluent local downsizers and owner-occupiers.

The precinct, dubbed Marina Point, will offer apartments starting from 153sq m in two, two-plus-study and three-bedroom configurations.

Each apartment is allocated two carparking spaces with charging stations for electric vehicles.

It will also have a state-of-the-art health and wellness hub, including a heated indoor 25m lap pool, fully equipped gymnasium, sauna and spa, yoga room and a massage room.

A second 25m lagoon pool will be surrounded by palm trees, lounge chairs and family-sized tables.

Marina Point will provide boat owners with bridge-free access to the open ocean for larger boats. Berths at the development will be some of the largest available on the island, offering up to 20m berths for mooring bigger vessels.

The development will involve extensive communal recreation facilities and a 300m long public boardwalk along the site’s water frontage.

▲ Apartments will have uninterrupted views across the river, to the hinterland and even to Surfers Paradise.

Future applications will seek approval for resident marina facilities, including a large vessel berthing area, which is unique to this site in the context of the Hope Island Canal.

Sheida Group has a long-standing involvement in Hope Island, having previously developed hundreds of apartments in the precinct.

Hope Island has become more popular as the northern Gold Coast precinct benefits from the new $470-million Westfield Coomera Town Centre and the $400-million expansion of the Gold Coast Marine Precinct.

Earlier this year, Aniko Group was given the green light for a $145-million waterfront residential project of its own across two buildings at 10-12 Sickle Avenue.

The now-approved development, known as Athena Quays, will bring the addition of 177 apartments.

Nearby, Keylin Group is well advanced on a $650-million townhouse project Serenity Green, on a peninsula bounded by Lake Serenity, Coombabah Lakelands conservation area and Saltwater Creek.

The 60-townhouse development forms part of a broader masterplan, known as Serenity 4212, one of the largest waterfront projects.
